A weekly photo routine for a busy lot
The best photos come from a routine, not from one heroic afternoon. This is a simple way to get every new car photographed, finished and listed in a day or two, without making it one person’s full-time job.
For sales managers and group heads
Step 1: shoot on the day the car arrives
Make the walk-around part of intake, right after the wash. A car that is photographed the day it arrives is a car that can be listed the day it is ready. A five-minute routine with the same shot list every time is plenty: exterior angles, wheels, interior, flaws.
Step 2: upload in batches
Collect the day’s photos and upload them together. Name each batch with the stock number so nothing gets mixed up between cars. Batches are quicker than sending cars one at a time, and they keep the whole lot on the same footing.
Step 3: review once, not many times
Have one person look through the finished shots and approve them. Check the first photo, the flaw close-ups and the order. A single quick review catches almost everything, and it keeps standards the same from car to car.
Step 4: publish everywhere the same day
Push the approved set to your website and every marketplace at once. A listing that is live on one site and missing on another loses calls for no reason.
Step 5: refresh the cars that go stale
If a car has sat for a few weeks, new photos can bring it back to life. Reshoot the front three-quarter and update the lead image. It costs little and gives the listing a second chance to be seen as new.
Running more than one site?
Use one booth for the whole group so a buyer sees the same quality at every branch. Give each site its own login so everyone can upload without sharing a password. Team accounts are part of the Premium plan.
